Do You Remember These?

Been a crazy week – four doctor appointments, so I thought I’d do something on the lighter side today.

Recently I was listening to a kids’ group sing and they were focused on adult contemporary music. None of the fun songs we used to sing – so I thought it would be entertaining to bring back memories of those songs.

The I “Want to Be Songs.”

If I were a Butterfly …

I want to be a Sunbeam …

I am a Promise. I am a Possiibility

The Exercise Songs

Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelujah

Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toe

If You’re Happy and You Know It

I’m in the Lord’s Army

The “go along with the time” song

Give Me Oil in my Lamp

Changed to – Give Me Gas in My Ford Keep Me Putting for the Lord

And then – Give me wax on my Board, Keep Me Surfing for the Lord

Character Songs

Only a Boy Named David

When Noah Took His Family in the Ark

Three Good Men Lived Very Long Ago

Zacchaeus Was a Wee Little Man

The Song with Many Verses

I have the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy

I have the wonderful love of my blessed redeemer

I have the love of God that heckles the heathen

And on and on and on …

The spelling songs

I am a C, I am a CH, I am a CHRISTIAN

BIBLE (to the tune of BINGO)

The transportation songs

I am Going to a Mansion on the Happy Day Express

I am Traveling on the Hallelujah Line

Ten and NIne, Eight and Seven … the Countdown’s Getting Closer Every day

The popular culture songs

I’m Going to Heaven, Can’t Wait (take off on the Kool-Aid commercial)

I will Follow Him Wherever He May Go ( take off on a top twenty song)

The “put all the songs together song”

The Hash Chorus – several phrases from different songs strung together or several complete songs strung together.

These were all fun to sing and I think our kids are missing something by not singing them. – What was your favorite chorus from childhood?
