Here’s a book for a teen … or even older to put on their reading list this summer.
The Faithful Spy is the story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and is written in graphic novel form.
The book gives a surprisingly good overview of World War II and how easy it is for people (countries) to fall into compliance without thinking what is truly happening. As one reviewer stated, “I learned more from this book than other scholarly works.”
I agree – I thought it told the story well.
The three-color graphics were interesting and although it is technically a graphic novel, it had a lot of content.
Note: The author does discuss politics at the end which some readers didn’t think was needed.
Title: The Faithful Spy
Author: John Hendrix
Publisher: Harry N. Abrams
Published: 2018
Age: Amazon says 10-14 – but I think kids much older (and adults) would enjoy it.
