Thanksgiving is over … at least the day is, but not the principal. We’ve eaten the turkey, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie … and talked a lot about Thanksgiving.
But now as Christmas approaches, our kids see us apply that thanksgiving to our lives
… because now is the season when there is an abundance of giving which should result in gratitude.
Whether it’s the clerk at the bakery who hands your child a cookie or Great Aunt Bertha who sends the not-supposed-to-be-ugly-but-really-IS-ugly sweater or the very cool just-what-I-wanted Lego set from Grandpa, this is the time to emphasize to our kids the need to be thankful.
Here are 10 verses to study with your kids this December.
1 Chronicles 16:34 – Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!
Psalm 69:30 – I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify Him with thanksgiving.
Psalm 100:4 – Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name!
1 Corinthians 1:4 – I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus,
2 Corinthians 9:15 – Thanks be to God for His inexpressible gift!
Ephesians 5:20 – Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Philippians 4:6 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God
Colossians 3:17 – And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 – Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Timothy 4:4 – For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.
Let’s approach Christmas with true Thanksgiving.
