Autumn is the time many of us take walks (or drives) to see the colored leaves. So I looked up verses on trees, leaves and creation in general. Words to remember as we’re admiring the bright colors … and words to share with our kids. Why not memorize one or two of the verses together?
Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:11 – And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants, yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so.
1 Chronicles 16:33 – Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.
Job 14:7 – For there is hope for a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again,
and that its shoots will not cease.
Psalm 92:12 –The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Psalm 104:17 – In them the birds build their nests; the stork has her home in the fir trees.
Psalm 148:9,13 – Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! … Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven.
Proverbs 11:28 – Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.
Isaiah 40:28 – Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.
Jeremiah 17:8 – He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream,
and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”
