One of the aspects of God that we need to teach kids is that He has all authority.
When I asked a group of kids for the definition of authority, one answered, “That means He’s the boss.”
Authority is the one who is charge – the boss – the one who has the power.
Parents have the authority over their kids.
Teachers have authority over the children in their classrooms.
Police have authority over communities.
The government has authority over the people who live in our country, our state, and our town.
God is the authority over all.
He has …
Luke 5:24 – the authority to forgive sins.
1 Thessalonians 4:2 – the authority to give instructions. (He’s the One who created us – who better to tell us how to live.)
Ephesians 1:21 – the authority over any power or government that ever was or ever is to come.
God is the authority. So His Word is our authority. (No matter how many people in our culture tell us otherwise.)
John 1:1 – 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
We live in a world that offers a myriad of religions, philosophies, and opinions. Satan knows how to make all things look attractive on the surface. We have a responsibility to teach kids that God is the one, the only, the ultimate authority.
